NHS pay in Wales
NHS Wales runs its own Agenda for Change contract, with pay awards agreed by the Welsh Government. While the pay points can differ slightly from England, the tax treatment is the same: the Welsh Rate of Income Tax is currently set to match the rest of the UK, so 20%, 40% and 45% bands apply above the £12,570 Personal Allowance.
That means your NHS Wales take-home pay is worked out exactly as it is in England — Income Tax, 8%/2% National Insurance, your NHS pension and any student loan.
